Description:

Chipotle (chee-POT-lay) Chile Powder (40 mesh) is made from grinding whole Chipotle peppers, seeds and pod both. The Chipotle Powder is 100% pure.  Chipotle Peppers are the familiar Jalapeno Pepper, which is first smoked, then dried. Chipotle means, “smoked chile”.  There are many beliefs regarding the difference between the Brown and Morita Chipotle.  Our understanding is that the Brown is the green Jalapeno and the Morita is the red, fully ripe Jalapeno, thus the difference in color.  When they are smoked they take on a unique, smoky flavor that is popular in many Southwestern dishes.  Morita Chile Powder is colorful with a deep, burgundy-brown color, Morita Chipotles rate approximately 5,000-10,000 Scoville heat units.

Suggested Use:
Use Chipotles in enchilada sauces, chili, stews, barbecue rubs, and corn bread. Their smoky quality combines well with poultry, meats and fall squash.
