JAPONES CHILE

JAPONES CHILE

Description:

The Japones Chile is a small, narrow chile that is native to China and Japan and is common in some regions of Mexico.  Japones Chile is a green chile about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide that matures to a dark red color.  Only moderately hot, it provides spicy heat to sauces, salsas, marinades, stews, casseroles and meat dishes.  Popular in Asian dishes, this pepper is similar to the De Arbol Chile.  Scoville heat units are 15,000 to 35,000.

Suggested Use:

Japones Chiles are usually found in spicier Asian and Oriental dishes, add to Thai curry dishes and peanut sauces.  Delicious in stir-fry, pilafs, orzo stuffing and vegetable dishes.
