MULATO
Description:
The Mulato (moo-LAH-toe) Chile has character with its wrinkled, flat skin and tapered bottom. Measuring about 4 inches wide by 3 inches long, the Mulato is a deep chocolate color with heat levels that range from mild to medium. When fresh the Mulato Chile is referred to as a Poblano Chile. Dark and sweet the Mulato Chile provides a slight fruity nuance with smoky undertones. Dried Mulato Chile is an important ingredient used in Mexican Mole Sauces. Scoville heat units are 500 - 2,500.
Suggested Use:
Mulato Chiles portray a medium to mild heat making them perfect in most Mexican, Thai and American dishes. Mulato Chiles are savory in Mexican sauces, salsa and soups. Chiles can be added directly to recipes along with other spices
