PIMENTO, SUN DRIED
Description:
Pimientos, also spelled Pimento, is a small sweet red pepped that is heart-shaped. Pimientos measure 3 to 4 inches long and about 2 to 3 inches wide. Sweet and succulent, this fruit has a tougher skin than a bell pepper and when used fresh, is usually removed. More aromatic that that of the Red Bell Pepper, Pimientos are the familiar red stuffing found in jars of green olives. Pimiento is used chiefly for color and flavor in salads, meat products, sandwich spreads and vegetable dishes. They can be used just like bell pepper in recipes. Pimientos can be used just like bell pepper in recipes; slivered and added raw to salads, or stuffed and baked as a side dish or main entree. Contains sulfites and potassium sorbate.
Suggested Use:
Fold chopped reconstituted Pimiento into softened cream cheese; add celery and pine nuts and use as a spread for bread. Mix chopped Pimiento into pasta salads, cheese spreads, dips, and sandwich spread. Combine with salad ingredients or mix them with cheese and rice and stuff into tomatoes or baked peppers.
