The Jalapeno Pepper is named after the town of Jalapa in the state of Veracruz in Mexico. The whole Jalapeno is about 2-3 inches long and 1 to 1 ½ inches wide, bright to dull green in color, they turn a deep red when left on the vine to mature. Scoville heat units are 5,000 to 10,000.
