CHIPOTLE MORITA, GRANULATED
Description:
Chipotle (chee-POT-lay) Granules are cut pieces of a whole Chipotle Pepper. Chipotle Peppers are smoked Jalapeno peppers. This process dates back to the Aztecs who smoked and dried these thick-fleshed chiles giving them a unique hot and sweet-smoky flavor, which is popular in many Southwestern dishes. Chipotles are about 1 ½ to 3 inches in length and above mid-range for heat intensity. There are many beliefs regarding the difference between the Brown and Morita Chipotle. The Brown Chipotle is said to be the green pepper and the Moritas are the red, fully mature Jalapeno that is smoked. Fully ripening the peppers gives these Morita Chiles a deep reddish brown color.
Suggested Use:
Use Chipotles with vegetables, rice, in sauces, chili, stews, barbecue rubs, muffins, marinades, pasta salads, with orzo’s and cornbread. Their smoky flavor combines well with poultry, grilled meats and fall squash.
