BLACKBERRY

BLACKBERRY

Description:

The Blackberry is also called a bramble because it grows on a thorny bush.  The Blackberry is dark velvety purple with smooth, thin skin.  Blackberries have a sweet, gently tart taste and range in size up to an inch long.  This versatile fruit is wonderful for eating out of the bag or using in your favorite recipe.  Used by many cultures, Blackberry tea was believed to be a cure for dysentery during the Civil War and was enjoyed by Greeks who used them as a preventative against many ailments including gout.  The Blackberry is rich in antioxidants, which help to fight cancer causing free radicals.

Suggested Use:

Blackberries are easily used in any recipe.  Try stuffed chicken breasts with Blackberry stuffing, Blackberry barbecued ribs, rich Blackberry cobbler or savory Blackberry jam.
