Description:
This interesting mushroom grows on hard woods in the Eastern regions of North America. Hen of the Woods mushrooms are white and grow in curly clusters fringed with bluish black streaks of color. Mild in flavor with a pungent aroma, Hen of the Woods mushrooms have a soft texture which compliments stronger flavored ingredients. Known as Grifola, Frondosa or Maitake, Hen of the Woods is a great meat substitute in vegetarian recipes.

Organic Maitake Mushrooms.
The mild flavor of Hen of the Woods allows it to compliment stronger flavored foods such as smoked meats, wild game, fish, and poultry. Delicious with risotto or other pasta dishes and an easy addition to vegetarian burgers.
To reconstitute, place desired amount into a bowl covered with boiling water and let soak for 15-20 minutes and rinse well. Or, add directly to recipe that will cook for at least 25 minutes. One ounce dry reconstitutes to 3-4 ounces.
