PUMPKIN SEEDS, PEPITAS

PUMPKIN SEEDS, PEPITAS

Description:

Pepitas are the raw, hulled seeds of pumpkins. Pepitas have been eaten in Mexico dating back to ancient Aztec times.  Pepitas pack therapeutic and nutritional ingredients and are a balanced source of good proteins.  Pepitas are also lower in fat than most other nuts. Used often in Mexican cooking, Pepitas are usually toasted and eaten as a snack.  They are also the key ingredient in "pipian" which is a type of mole.  With their white shell removed or hulled, Pepitas are medium dark green, about 1/2" long with a delicate nutty flavor.

Suggested Use:
Raw or toasted Pepitas make a wonderful snack.  Toast them and add to trail mix or sprinkle Pepitas in salads and stir-fry dishes.  Pepitas are a real treat in muffins, cakes, breads, and even meat loaf!
