HAZELNUT MEAL, ROASTED
Description:
Hazelnuts are also called Filberts and are grown in clusters on the Hazel Tree in temperate zones around the world. The Hazelnut has a fuzzy outer husk that opens when ripe exposing a smooth hard shell. Hazelnuts can be round and spherical or oblong and pointy in shape. Predominately used in baking, dairy and confections industries, Hazelnuts provide high quality monounsaturated fats. Reddish brown to dark brown in color with a cream to tan colored interior. Hazelnuts flavor is mild, yet richly sweet with a woodsy nutty flavor. Roasting, chopping and grinding increases the volatile flavors of this hearty nut. Compatible with a wide variety of foods, the Hazelnut may be substituted for any other nut in a recipe. Rich in Vitamins B, C and E, Hazelnuts are a great source of protein. Our Hazelnut Meal is a free-flowing powder replacer that acts as a binding agent or flavor enhancer to desserts, fillings, snacks and gluten-free health orientated foods.
Suggested Use:
Hazelnut meal adds a richness to any dessert! Use for in crusts, toppings and breaders. Substitute for all or some of the flour in a recipe. Use in pancake or waffle batter but substitute only 1/3 of the flour. Cherry or blueberry cobbler with Hazelnut topping or Hazelnut cookies are easy recipes to try this amazing meal. Although Hazelnuts are used in a variety of desserts and confections, Hazelnuts have a particular affinity for chocolate. Hazelnuts are trendy enough to go well with the rustic cooking of the Mediterranean. Hazelnuts can be paired with fragrant cheeses or used with pomegranate molasses in a dipping sauce for grilled chicken kabobs.
