NORI SHEETS ( SEAWEED ) - Kosher/Gluten Free
NORI-3
Description:
Nori (NOH-ree) is a nutritious and natural food used for wrapping certain varieties of Sushi. While there are many different varieties of seaweeds used for consumption, Nori is the most commonly known and used. Seaweed in general has been a staple in the Japanese diet since 600-800 AD, though at that time it was predominately eaten by Japanese nobility. In the Asian cultures it was eaten to strengthen the circulatory system and help lower cholesterol. Nori is harvested at special farms and is dried and roasted to keep it crisp. These thin dried seaweed sheets are usually a dark purplish-black and have a fresh, nutty flavor. Nori is used in sushi dishes where wasabi and another topping (such as seafood) is laid on top of packed rice and often thinly wrapped with a Nori strip.
