CELLOPHANE NOODLES/ BEAN THREAD
Description:
Cellophane Noodles are also known as Bean Thread, Transparent Noodles, and Shining Noodles. Unlike most pasta, Cellophane Noodles are made from Mung Beans instead of grain flour. They are called "Cellophane Noodles" because of their resemblance to Cellophane, a transparent material. Once the noodles are soaked they become soft and slippery, springy and translucent. They are delicate, almost flavorless and take on the taste of their accompanying sauce or broth. Used in China and Japan, Cellophane Noodles are added to soups, braised dishes, or used as a garnish. When they are deep-fried these Noodles puff up and become white and crisp, which make them desirable as bedding for stir-fried dishes. Cellophane Noodles are popular in Vegetarian dishes since they are a vegetable product
Suggested Use:
Cellophane Noodles are versatile and can be used in a variety of recipes including; cold Cellophane Noodles with chicken, spicy Shrimp and scallops with Cellophane Noodles. Cellophane Noodle salad, lamb shreds with Cellophane Noodles, spicy Thai meatballs with crispy Noodles, Burmese soup with Cellophane Noodles, Mandarin potato salad or Asian Chicken with Cellophane Noodles.
