SOMEN NOODLES
Description:
Somen Noodles are thin, round, white Japanese noodles made of wheat flour, salt and water. It is similar to vermicelli. Somen are usually dried and packaged in band tied bundles. Somen noodles are usually served cold and are extremely thin. The difference between Somen and Udon is that Somen Noodles are stretched while Udon Noodles are cut. If Somen is not available you may substitute vermicelli, angel hair pasta, lo mein or rice sticks. Perfect for Thai dishes including Khanom Jin, noodles topped with colorful fish curry and green vegetables. Serve hot or cold, wonderful when served with a light dipping broth.
Suggested Use:
Teriyaki chicken and Somen Noodles, Somen Noodles and dipping soup, Somen Noodles and sushi are just a few variations of this versatile noodle.
