BROWN RICE, SHORT GRAIN
Description:
Short Grain Brown Rice is also known as Pearled Rice or Glutinous Rice (does not contain gluten). This Short Grain Brown Rice still has the high fiber Bran coating giving it a nutty flavor. This small almost round grain of Rice contains a higher starch content than long or medium grain rices. When cooked the Short Grain Brown Rice tends to be moist and soft which causes the grains to stick together. Because of these properties, Short Grain Brown Rice is especially suitable in recipes where a creamy texture is desired and can be used like Italian Arborio rice in risotto recipes. Short Grain Brown Rice is excellent for Asian and Oriental recipes because of its stickier consistency. This allows it to stick together when cooked and is easier to eat with chopsticks.
Suggested Use:
Short Grain Brown Rice is best suited for molded salads and rice puddings. Zest up our Short Grain Brown Rice by adding vegetables or dried fruits. Use in risotto, Greek rice pilaf, sushi squares, custard, rice pudding, paella, breads, croquettes and salads. Use in any recipe where you need rice that has a stickier texture yet full flavor and hearty goodness.
