Peppercorns

PEPPERCORNS, BLACK FINE GROUND

PEPPERCORNS, BLACK FINE GROUND

Description:

Peppercorns, belong to the Piper Nigrum plant family.  This woody evergreen vine grows up to 11 yards tall and has oval, dark green leaves.  Peppercorn plants have small white flowers that bloom in grape-like clusters that hang down in a spike.  When these flowers ripen, they are the little berries known as Peppercorns.  It takes several years for a plant to flower and produce Peppercorns.  Peppercorns are one of the most widely used spices in the world and account for 1/4 of all the global spice trade.  India is the largest producer of the world's pepper in addition to Brazil, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The first use of Peppercorns was documented in southern Asia, from the 4th century BC.  Black Peppercorns are fermented, green Peppercorns.  They have a crisp, strong flavor that is hot with an edge of sweetness.  Black Peppercorns have the boldest taste of all Peppercorns.  This product is ground fine with a product size of 50/60 mesh.

Suggested Use:

Ground Black Peppercorns possess a crsip and aromatic flavor making it versatile and easy to use.  Use to season vegetables, meats, sauces, egg dishes, marinades, vinaigrettes, and salad dressings.  Ground Black Pepper should be added to cooked dishes near the end of cooking to prevent creating a bitter flavor.  Overcooking Pepper causes it to loose its flavor and impart a slightly bitter taste.  Pepper has an amplified flavor after food it is in has been frozen.  Try Ground Black Peppercorns on fresh fruit like cantaloupe and mellon.
