WHAT IS THE YIELD OF WILD RICE?
Wild rice expands three to four times when cooked; therefore, one pound of uncooked rice will make 20 to 24 servings of cooked rice.
HOW CAN I STORE WILD RICE?
Uncooked wild rice can be stored indefinitely if kept dry in a tightly covered container. Cooked wild rice will keep for several weeks if refrigerated. It also freezes well for longer storage.
WHAT CAN I USE WILD RICE FOR?
Wild rice is delicious served hot or cold, as the main ingredient in single meal dishes or as a compliment to any entrée. It is very versatile with a wide range of uses from breakfast to dessert.
HOW NUTRITIOUS IS WILD RICE?
Wild rice is a high-fiber, low-fat, low-calorie carbohydrate that has a lot of good quality protein, plus plenty of B vitamins and minerals. One cup of cooked wild rice has about 130 calories.
