FLEUR DE SEL - Kosher/Gluten Free

FLEUR-30

Description:

Temporarily Unavailable...  Fleur de sel is hand-raked and harvested in France. The name Fleur De Sel means “flower of salt” and comes from the aroma of violets that develops as the salt dries. This all-natural sea salt from the Island of Re, France is gathered in summer and basically raked out of the nutrient-rich ocean and through a series of canals. Harvested by hand, Fleur de sel is collected by workers harvesting or scraping only the top layer of evaporating seawater with wooden rakes before it sinks to the bottom of large salt pans. The saltwater is trapped, then decanted from the reservoir to the reservoir, and finally evaporated. Once evaporated the salt is then raked naturally into crystals with the help of the sun and the wind.

The harvesting is done by hand to ensure the salt is kept perfectly clean, ensuring exceptional purity. This salt is unprocessed, unrefined, and unadulterated. Rich in minerals it is a natural source of potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, and zinc. Fleur De Sel is a favored ingredient of French chefs since it enhances the flavor of the dish and doesn’t overwhelm it. Since Fleur De Sel is the top layer of salt it is bright white in color and has the purest flavor. Sel Gris is the gray salt found underneath the Fleur De Sel. For every 80 pounds of Sel Gris harvested there are three pounds of Fleur De Sel. The condensed and dehydrated sea is sprinkled into a dish. Pure, unrefined, nothing added.
